Reserve Firefighter
Reserve Firefighters will serve as the primary non-paid members of the District. Reserve Firefighters are not required to live within the Lake Saint Louis Fire Protection District.
Reserve Firefighters will not be issued tone-alert pagers and will not respond to emergency calls unless specifically participating in a Manning Shift or riding with a career crew. Some exceptions do exist for Reserve Firefighters residing within the Distict and regarding response during times of in-district working fires or other large scale emergencies or when District coverage is needed.
Minimum Requirements to Apply for Membership:

All new Reserve Firefighters must satisfactorily complete the District’s Recruit Orientation Training and are on a probationary period during their first 12 months of membership. During this period of time, you will be able to determine if your new position is suitable for you, and the District Officers will have an opportunity to evaluate your performance. However, the completion of the introductory period does not guarantee membership for any period of time thereafter.
All Reserve Firefighters are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of documented training every six (6) months, 15 hours of which must be completed in house at approved District sponsored training. In addition, all Reserve Firefighters are required to participate in at least twelve (12) 12-hour Manning Shifts every six (6) months (January-June and July-December). Manning Shifts typically occur from 7:00am to 7:00pm and 7:00pm to 7:00am.
Reserve Firefighters will typically be considered for the program on a yearly basis at the discretion of the Officers. Applications for membership as a Reserve Firefighter will be accepted throughout the year.
